Hello,

The old discussion forum had a workaround for running stream deck and sim commander together, I’m having issues and can’t remember it. I think it was an order of operations thing. Thanks

Thanks

No one here at SimXperience uses the 3rd party Stream Deck tool so I cannot comment with certainty.

However, as I understand it, it has a rather unsophisticated virtual button tool that can only interact with a game that has the window focus.

If you are using our HUD/In game on-screen display tool, it would have the focus instead of the game. You can try without our HUD feature enabled for your profile. You can also try clicking on the game Window before you try issuing a command from stream deck.

Aside from window focus, I can't think of how else we could impact it. If it does turn out to be a Window focus issue, you can present this to the stream deck developers. It's quite possible to have no reliance on window focus. The Sim Commanders virtual button box tools are a good example of this, having the ability to send keystrokes to games that aren't in focus.

NOTE: TO keep the Sim Commander section of the Q&A forum free of 3rd party tool discussions, we'll be adding a new Q&A forum next week and moving this post.

Hi.

I'm using Contour Design ShuttlePro (https://streammentor.com/stream-deck-alternative/) - it's 4th from the top Elgato stream deck alternative - and have the same question.
Is this device compatible with sim commander? Or with any other streaming deck from that list I sent? What do you recommend to me?

I think the answer will be about the same as below. You would need to give it a try and see. If there is a problem and it only happens when Sim Commander is running, then you probably just need to not use our in-game on screen display feature so that your stream deck or similar software gets focus. It might also be useful to use our launch tasks and have Sim Commander start your stream deck software either before it launches the game or just after it launches the game depending on what your stream deck software wants. I'm sure it's quite possible to get these utilities running. Sim Commander doesn't do anything weird that would stand in the way. In fact, it should even be possible for another software to stand in the way of other input devices. That would be quite the Windows vulnerability if it were possible.

I use the streamdeck xl with SC. I’m the one who asked the same question above. My work around was/is launching streamdeck software, launching SC, but not launching game from SC. I’ve tried several things but this always works. I launch my game, say ACC or iRacing from desktop, then when I hit launch from SC, either cloud or universal, it says “game already running” and everything works fine. I run between 7-11 different programs with no issues. You still get full SC functionality.

I should have added, I’m using SC for GS-5 and G Belt.

Thank you cbost. It worked!

The tip from cbost is a good workaround.
It solved all my problems with streamdeck and Content Manager, caused by launching my games via SimCommander 4.5
