I'm pretty new to the SimCommander world so I'm still experimenting. I've been able to add Assetto Corsa to the game list and in general it works fine (Cloud is enabled).
I tried to add the Game Force Feedback effect, but as soon as I add it I get no feedback from the base. I can see that the game outputs something, as the FFB bar goes up and down as I would expect, but the steering wheel has no resistence at all.
Is there anything I might be missing?

If you are new to Sim Commander, our suggested approach is to use the default profiles with cloud tuning. Then, if you want to experiment and learn about the different effects, you can do so by turning things on/off in that default profile. Building up a profile from scratch isn't something that you should really ever need to do these days.
Another point of concern is that you said you were able to add Assetto Corsa to the game list. That really shouldn't be the case. Assuming it is the Steam version and you have the latest version of Sim Commander and have Sim Commander configured correctly, Assetto Corsa should have been auto-detected which will ensure that the game record is 100% correct, avoiding potential issues.
My suggestion would be to start by fully resetting the game in Sim Commander and starting from there using the toggle effects on/off approach described above. See: How To Fully Reset A Game To Defaults
