Hi all,

I recently converted my Frex Simconmotion to be used with x-sim like in this thread www.x-simulator.de/forum/how-to-conve...

I purschased 2 Devantech USB <-> RS485 adapters and the SCN5 actuators are the ones which i bought at Frex.

Everything is working like a charm with x-sim. Now I really like to start using the SimXperience Commander so I installed it but it doesn't recognize my setup. I can't see or select my actuator's serial numbers.

The FTDI drivers seem to be installed correctly as COM3 and COM4 are present. Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers,

Richard

The Commander 3 only supports the SX-3000 and any SCN5's from Dyadic except for the Japanese model.

The Japanese actuators are not supported because the wiring is different from those sold in the rest of the world.

There area variety of reasons form why only the SX-3000/4000 are supported, such as certainty of performanc, no possibility of wiring errors damaging actuators, etc..

Long story short, yours is the worst possible scenario.

Thanks Admin. Too bad..

I still find that a bit strange though.. The software talks to the USB interface and not directly to the actuators if I'm correct? Why should the not standard wiring of the actuator causing problems then? X-sim works fine. Isn't the SimXperience Commander based on X-Sim?

We do not provide support for customer wired scenarios because this often leads to damaged actuators. Instead, we offer a plug-n-play solution that cannot be miswired. Again, the Japanese actuators are wired differently than those sold in the rest of the world.

Yes, the software does indeed talk to the USB interface. In the case of the SX-3000/Comander 3, it is an optimized USB driver from SimXperience rather than a generic driver. Had we allowed the Commander 3 to talk to the generic drivers, they would simply fail or be unreliable.

The advantage of us specifying both hardware and software allows ismuch better performance, reliability and far easier configuration. Notice, that here, you don't see 50 pages of forum threads about how to get an actuator communicating :)
